Bogbean

Fat-jointed green stems from Bogbean creep over rocks and water spreading from the shallow areas of the pond. Tri-lobed green leaves erect themselves 6" above the water. Fragrant white fringed flowers held above the leaves. Best of all the fish leave this plant alone and the plant does not try to choke out the rest of the pond. Plant in 1" - 4" of water.

Cardinal Flower is a tall growing, amply flowering Hardy Marginal Plant. Its recognizable flowers will flourish in the warm Summer months, attracting butterflies, and more excitingly, Hummingbirds! It has heart shaped leaves up to 75mm long and almost as wide. The leaves are comprised of a mixture of colours from green through yellow to red ('Chamaeleon'), the brighter colours being more prominent when grown in full sunlight. The leaves are opposite along thin erect stems which arise from slender rhizomes. The minute flowers are densely clustered on short spikes. At the base of each spike are four white petal-like parts.

The species is said to have a variety of edible and medicinal uses.
